Wounded Warrior Project Chooses USAA Bank for Co-Branded Credit Card

USAA Bank named preferred provider for credit card services

San Antonio, TX (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 29, 2010 -- To raise awareness and help provide funding for the needs of severely injured service men and women, USAA Savings Bank and the Wounded Warrior Project will join forces to offer a credit card that helps fund WWP programs to support service members with traumatic war injuries.

New account and transaction revenue associated with the co-branded credit card will assist WWP in developing and delivering unique programs and services to meet wounded warrior needs.

Wounded warriors and their family members along with WWP supporters and contributors can now proudly carry the USAA Wounded Warrior Project World MasterCard®.

In addition to the co-branded credit card honoring wounded warriors, USAA announced that recipients of the Traumatic Servicemember’s Group Life Insurance benefit will receive a free consultation with a USAA Certified Financial PlannerTM.

TSGLI is the government-provided lump-sum payment of $25,000 to $100,000 for certain combat-related injuries. This program, originally championed by WWP, is designed to help injured service members and their families with financial burdens associated with recovering from a severe injury.

“Providers like USAA who believe in our mission of honoring and empowering wounded warriors allow us to further enhance our unique programs and services for the wounded and their families,” said WWP Executive Director, Steve Nardizzi. “Their vital support will help ensure that this generation of warriors will be prepared with the tools essential to not just survive their injuries but to thrive and achieve personal and professional success.”

“USAA’s mission is helping military and their families achieve and maintain financial security, and that’s especially important for those who suffer such severe injuries in service to our country,“ said retired Army Maj. Gen. Joe Robles, USAA president and CEO. “USAA and WWP care deeply about our service members and their loved ones, and this new relationship will allow us both to help wounded warriors transition from a hospital bed to an independent and fulfilling life.”

Free financial advice has long been a benefit provided by USAA; however, this tailored support is available to all TSGLI recipients. TSGLI recipients should call USAA at 1-800-531-1045 and indicate they’ve received TSGLI to receive their financial consultation.

According to WWP, more than 37,000 of our nation’s armed forces have been physically wounded during the current military conflicts. Hundreds of thousands more are estimated to be recovering from invisible wounds of war, including post-traumatic stress disorder, major depression and traumatic brain injury. WWP assists wounded warriors and their families through a holistic approach to their recovery, providing programs and services to aid their physical rehabilitation and improve their mental health and well-being.
