Visa Eases up on Triple DES Deadline in Face of ‘Migration Challenges’

(May 28, 2010) Visa Inc. has “relaxed enforcement” of the July 1, 2010, deadline for petroleum retailers to install software that meets the so-called Triple Data Encryption Standard (also called 3DES or TDES) in response to requests from the major oil companies, including ExxonMobil, the card network said in a statement released this week. Gift Cards Hit Facebook(R) Platform With Virtual and Mobile Gift Cards By Transaction Wireless

Innovative Service Makes Gifting Instant and Personalized for Leading Retailers on Social Network Site, Launches with Bass Pro Shops, America's Premier Outdoor Retailer

SAN DIEGOMay 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Transaction Wireless (TW), leading provider of virtual and mobile gift cards, today launched a new gift card solution for social gifting. TW's gift card "store" built on Facebook Platform allows friends – especially ones who routinely count on Facebook's birthday reminders – to create fun, customizable messages with instant delivery or a time-select option to arrive during a party, event or other special occasion. The card is delivered directly to the "always with you" mobile phone and an email address for printing options.  Best of all, gifting on Facebook Platform increases the fun factor of social media and also helps ensure important birthdays and anniversaries are never forgotten.
TW's Facebook application is available immediately and is launching with Bass Pro Shops, America's premier outdoor retailer. Gift recipients don't have to be on Facebook to receive the card – delivery is made to mobile, email and via Facebook, simultaneously – catching the birthday boy, bride, recent grad and more wherever they happen to be.  The application can be seen at http://transactionwireless.com/basspro/
"Gifting on Facebook is super convenient and easy but until now the gifts have been virtual or a gift that must be delivered – taking days in the mail to arrive and with extra shipping expenses," said Bruce Springer, president and CEO, Transaction Wireless. "With our Facebook store offering, the delivery is instant, totally customizable with voice, video or text messages and, if you choose, you can announce to the rest of your friends on Facebook what you've just sent or received."
While consumers enjoy the ease of use and unique customization features, retailers benefit from being able to offer their gift cards on their Facebook Pages with virtually no ramp up time or dedicated resources and can tailor messages to leverage the viral marketing aspects of social gifting and Facebook's more than 400 million active users. Millions of Facebook users return to the site each day, providing unparalleled distribution potential for applications and the opportunity to build a business that is highly relevant to people's lives.
"Our gift card platform solutions have been incredibly well received by retailers," continued Springer. "The willingness to add virtual and mobile card offerings for their customers is growing quickly, especially with our turnkey program that can be implemented in minutes without a need for significant resources or costly integration fees. In this economic climate, retailers can now take their gifting and marketing programs to the next level with the incredibly robust Facebook community.  More than 1.5 million businesses have an active presence on Facebook and this is a great way to monetize those relationships."
When retailers sign up for TW's turnkey program, installation is a matter of minutes since no retail resources are needed for implementation. A gift card tab is immediately added to the corporate Facebook fan page or corporate website, allowing consumers to quickly send virtual gift cards via email or text message, as well as traditional plastic, redeemable both online and in-store.  TW's proprietary technology allows for fully customizable virtual/mobile cards with audio, video, text and pictures.  With the Facebook application, the gifting experience is fully integrated into wall posts, news feeds, photo albums and friend lists, giving almost unlimited customization options and making each gift card purchase an "event" in and of itself.  Recipients aren't required to be a part of Facebook however, so customizable gifts can be sent directly to any email address or mobile phone.
Retailers are able to customize and brand their storefront with unlimited card art and images, create tailored marketing campaigns with each gift purchased and reward their valued customers on Facebook fan pages.  By using the virtual or mobile solution, retailers can also realize significant cost savings – eliminating production, postage and packaging of plastic cards.  While TW does continue to support retailers' plastic card offerings, the virtual/email options allow for instantaneous delivery and customization.

YESpay and CCR Systems ‘Graduate’ the Payment Model at LGoS

YESpay International has worked with CCR Systems, to provide Liverpool Guild of Students with an integrated EPOS payment solution that resolves the problems of slow transaction processing, lowering customer turnover and sub-optimal utilisation of tills.

London, UK (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) May 28, 2010 -- YESpay International has worked with CCR Systems, to provide Liverpool Guild of Students with an integrated EPOS payment solution that resolves the problems of slow transaction processing, lowering customer turnover and sub-optimal utilisation of tills.

News Image

Working with YESpay and CCR has been an absolute pleasure, no problem seems to be too big, and the staff at both organisations has been superb.
As in many retail environments, the Liverpool Guild of Students was facing delays in processing consumer requests and carrying out simultaneous card payment transactions across the tills as a result of slow bank rented credit and debit card terminals. With growing consumer traffic, queues resulting from increased frequency of visits and incorrect manual entries of amounts were leading to customer dissatisfaction.

Discussing the rollout at LGoS, Adi Shakalya, Senior Sales Executive at YESpay International said, “The use of bank owned terminals and sharing a single phone line across multiple tills limited the number of transactions that the Guild could process, slowed down the queues and cost LGoS a lot more on a per transaction basis. YESpay’s EMBOSS service eliminates the need to rekey any transaction values as the payment service is fully integrated with CCR’s EPOS application. In addition, the speed of transaction authorisation is much better because we use IP for processing the transaction requests which can now be completed in less than 3-5 seconds, about 5 times faster than standalone terminals”.

George Gunnery, MD of Merseyside based CCR systems states, “We have been providing EPOS solutions to various stores and restaurants for over two decades, YESpay has cleverly resolved LGoS’s problem of long waits and entry errors that had become commonplace in the retail environment, thus making the whole shopping experience far more enjoyable and painless for both the parties involved.”

Mark Vyse, Liverpool Guild of Students says, “For our 16 point of sale terminals, we wanted to use the best solutions that would help us carry out fast transactions in a very easy and intuitive way and we got what we needed; Working with YESpay and CCR has been an absolute pleasure, no problem seems to be too big, and the staff at both organisations has been superb.”

AIMsi Delivers Encrypted Swipe Security to Retailers

Tri-Technical SystemsSecure Payment Processing Solution Delivered Through Partnership With PPI
DUBUQUE, IA--(Marketwire - May, 2010) -  Tri-Technical Systems, Inc., a leading developer of retail point-of-sale software, announces the integration of Point-2-Point Security from Payment Processing, Inc. with AIMsi point-of-sale software. To date, the PA-DSS validated solution with encrypted swipe has been deployed to 24 retail customers.
To ensure the merchant's POS system never handles clear text cardholder data, the solution integrates seamlessly with the PPI PayMover hosted payment service and utilizes Magtek's MagnaSafe technology using open standards technology to encrypt credit card track data within the reader. Encrypted track data is decrypted upon reaching PPI PayMover, which communicates with the processor in a secure manner and returns the transaction status to the POS.
"Ensuring that our customers mitigate their risk for a data breach is key," commented Paul Acton, President of Tri-Technical Systems. "Our partnership with Payment Processing, Inc. enables us to provide secure and reliable payment processing solutions that integrate seamlessly with our point of sale software."
Compliant with the global security standard created by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, AIMsi V9 is a validated Payment Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) application. "Partners like Tri-Technical Systems are actively deploying secure payment processing solutions that go beyond the basic requirements of PCI Compliance," stated Chuck Riegel, PPI's Executive Vice President. "Their ability to successfully implement encrypted swipe solutions validates that next-generation payment security is now readily available."

Element, Anthology partner for PCI DSS-compliant payment processing

Element Partners with Anthology to Provide PCI DSS Compliant Payment Processing

Element's Level 1 PCI DSS compliant payment processing system incorporates the most innovative technology on the market including end-to-end encryption and tokenization.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) May 27, 2010 -- Element Payment Services, Inc., a recognized industry leader in PCI DSS compliant payment processing and Anthology Development LLC., the premier bookstore management system provider announce a partnership which will provide fully integrated, PCI DSS compliant processing solutions to Anthology customers.

Credit card fraud is a significant problem for merchants. In recent years, the compromise of credit card and personal information has cost major retailers hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and compensation to customers. According to the 2009 Global Cost of a Data Breach report, compiled by The Ponemon Institute, the average cost of a data breach in the US in 2009 was $6.75 million or $204 per compromised card record. Hidden costs such as lost business and damage to a retailer’s reputation accounted for 66% of the overall cost of a breach for the same merchants.

Anthology selected Element as its processing partner because the company wanted a solution that completely removed the transmission and storage of cardholder data from both their software application and customers’ point of sale systems.

“Because thieves continue to find ways to hack into point of sale (POS) systems and steal confidential cardholder information even from PCI DSS compliant merchants, it was critical that we found a solution that enabled our merchants to process directly with a PCI DSS compliant payment processor in a simple and transparent way that does not involve the storing, processing, or transmitting of credit card information in Anthology. This partnership provides customers the most secure credit card processing available,” says Steve Van Zoeren, vice president of development at Anthology.

Anthology integrated Element’s payment processing solutions through Hosted Payments which takes software providers out of scope of the PA-DSS/PCI DSS compliance requirements. Hosted Payments works by transferring the risk and liability of handling sensitive cardholder data away from programs like Anthology and its users to Element’s Express Processing Platform,” explains Sean Kramer, president and CEO of Element. The Level 1 PCI DSS compliant payment processing system incorporates the most innovative technology on the market including end-to-end encryption and tokenization. "By leveraging Element’s Hosted Payments, Anthology is no longer considered a payment application and, as such, is not in scope for these compliance requirements,” says Kramer.

Rapidly approaching deadlines in the credit card processing industry mandate all businesses accepting credit card payments use payment applications that meet the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS). By July 1, 2010 all merchants must ensure this mandate is met in order for their own businesses to comply with the PCI DSS. If not, businesses risk the loss in ability to accept credit cards from customers.
